At the end of the year 2010 a contest was launched for the extension of the Central University Library, in which we have participated with two projects. The solution multiplies the first volume of the deposit, the one that is actually extending. The strategy of closing and packing the space results in placing the areas for the readers’ studios towards the façade, meeting the filtrated light by semitransparency. The space is extremely valuable, and that is why it is efficiently organized. The access area is brought down to the stair of the visible but secondary dado. The withdrawn volume on the last storey is almost unnoticeable from the street and can provide a well-deserved vanishing perspective from the terrace. We count on a contemporary façade, with a vibrating expression revealing a brainstorm. The themes of the project are enhanced by simplicity and space efficiency.
